Picture Windows

See More of What Matters with Picture Windows
If your living room feels darker than it should, or you keep wishing you could actually see that backyard view instead of just knowing it's there, a picture window might be exactly what your home is missing. These large, fixed windows are designed to do one thing really well: pull the outside in. Sunlight, open views, and an uncluttered look all come standard.
At Empire Home Remodeling, we install picture windows all over the home, from front-facing living rooms and stairwells to any area that feels a little too closed off. And since they have no moving parts, they work with virtually any home style.
Want fresh air along with your view? Pairing a picture window with double-hung or casement windows on either side gives you the best of both worlds.
A Higher Standard of Window Design
Today's picture windows offer much more than just a good-looking frame. Modern picture windows are designed to pull their weight, not just fill wall space.
Here’s a closer look at what sets a quality picture window apart:
Insulated Glass: Double- and triple-pane options reduce heat transfer, helping keep indoor temperatures steady through cold winters and warm summers.
Custom Sizing: A window built to your exact opening looks better, performs better, and eliminates the gaps that can come with off-the-shelf sizing.
Low-Maintenance Materials: Fewer moving parts mean less to worry about. Our frames are engineered to last without a lot of fuss on your end.
Expert Installation: Even a top-of-the-line window underperforms if it’s not installed correctly. A proper fit keeps air and moisture out for the long haul.
Smart Savings: Argon gas fills and advanced glass packages keep your energy costs in check and your light exactly where you want it.
These features are not just nice-to-haves on a checklist. Together, they translate to real comfort on a cold morning, energy costs that don’t catch you off guard, and a window that stays reliable for years down the road. That’s the kind of upgrade that pays for itself.

Flexible Options for Every Home
No two homes are exactly alike, and our selection reflects that. We carry standard and oversized picture windows, custom shapes for homes with distinctive architecture, and energy-efficient glass packages built for Wisconsin's climate. Plus, our durable, US-made frames let you personalize the details with grids, trim styles, or privacy glass, where appropriate.
Whether you have a bold statement wall in mind or a more subtle configuration alongside other window styles, we’ll help you figure out what works for your home.

Picture vs. Operable Windows: What’s the Difference?
Both styles have their strengths, and neither one is the wrong answer. It really just depends on what you need the window to do.
Here’s a quick look at where each one shines:
Picture windows are ideal if your goal is:
Maximizing natural light
Creating wide, uninterrupted views
Stronger insulation with fewer seams
An eye-catching focal point in any room
Operable windows work better when you want:
Fresh air and ventilation
Flexibility in airflow throughout the day
A functional component to fixed windows nearby
If light, views, and efficiency are your top priorities, picture windows are hard to beat. Throw an operable window into the mix, and there’s nothing left to compromise on.
Set It & Forget It
Part of what makes picture windows so appealing is how little they ask of you. With no opening mechanism to wear out, upkeep stays minimal. Wipe them down every now and then, and they will look and perform just as well as the day they were installed.
That simplicity pays off over time. A well-built, correctly installed picture window will insulate dependably for years, keeping your home bright without adding anything to your weekend chores.

Frequently Asked Questions
Most projects wrap up in as little as one day, though the timeline can vary depending on how many windows are being replaced and their size.
Absolutely. Double-hung, casement, bay, and bow windows all work well alongside picture windows, depending on your layout and goals.
Not at all. A quick wipe with mild soap and water is about all they need.
With insulated glass and proper installation, condensation is generally kept to a minimum.

Window Types
Double Hung Windows
Double-hung windows have two vertical glass panels that can slide both up and down in the frame at the same time. They can open very wide from either top or bottom and won’t protrude in any way whatsoever.
Casement Windows
These are hinged windows that operate with the simple turn of a crank arm that controls the opening mechanism. Depending on your home layout and what works best for you the hinge can either come on the left or the right side.
Picture Windows
Picture windows are generally very large fully stationary windows designed to let in the maximum amount of light possible. These are perfect for those seeking the best outside views and natural light coverage.
Bow Window Replacement
Bow windows give a unique 180° arc design which allows more light into your home and allows you to see a wider view. Bow window replacements are created from six windows of the same size and are not as deep as bay windows.
Bay Windows
Bay window replacement is great if you are looking for a stunning window that brings personality and function to your home. Bay windows consist of three windows at either 30°, 45°, 60°, or 90° angles and these are large enough for a seat or small mattress to fit comfortably on!
Awning Windows
Awning windows come hinged at the top and can be turned completely outwards to let air in from every single direction! They can be installed either above, below, or alongside your normal stationary windows.
Garden Windows
With a garden window, you can finally enjoy your plants and flowers year-round without worry about the weather outside! These windows project outwards a good couple of inches to give you space to put up things like photos, plants, or whatever else décor you may want.
3 Lite Slider Windows
These windows have three separate panels (called sashes) within one master frame. These windows are often chosen for all of the natural light that they allow as well as how easy it is to open both sides and let fresh air in. The 3 slider design is also very aesthetically pleasing and can operate at the touch of a fingertip!

“When installation day came, all 9 windows were installed with expertise in one day. The whole experience from start to finish was wonderful. And, we love our windows!”
